"Technology is amazing" - and what are you going to do with it? Why do people care so much about material things knowing all things must die? See how meaningless is each of these technological "material things" is? People are loosing the sight of themselves and concentrate on not important things nowadays. Today's world is a moral and spiritual prostitution. Think about how you live your life.

this maybe the wrong kinda forum for that viewpoint. I think we'd mainly be technojunkies and early adapters round here!
I know it is not the best place to write such standpoints, but no one said I cannot give my opinion and stand against "masses".

My first computer was a 486 50mhz processor with windows 3.1 you had to
type win on the dos screen for it to load up LOL
it had 8meg ram and it was FAST..
Hey remember Kazaa? took 5 days (120 hrs) to download Godzilla
on a 56k modem and the film was a Porno because
someone joker renamed the file ...LOL

Kazaa had resume if i am not misstaken, but there was other programs that didnt have resume, so when you where downloading something and the phone rang.. you had to start all over again

This thread kinda makes me giggle.. I'm sure some of us were playing even if very young like kids maybe do now on the forums, day and night with those damn autoexec.bat and config.sys to squeeze that extra few KILObytes of memory to be able to play winter games on msdos 4... XMS, EMS, dos extender... At some point a 20 MEGAbye hard drive was rumored to be available on the MAGAZINES some read but most couldn't really afford such a capable disk and after all, what for? Who needed 20 MB of disk? Probably only those of us who had the few DOZEN floppies that turbo c (with gfx framework for msdos!!) came with... Wow dosshell could execute more than one program at a time! Some -only those who had a mouse- could even interact with it! Fun times. And to the question: what to do with technology? Well a lot of ppl wouldn't be eating properly without it, that's reason enough to cherish it, me thinks...

I remember being mid conversation with a girl and the internet cutting out because someone was calling. I also remember when they introduced the option for the caller id and ignore call button to pop up on your screen when someone was calling. That horrible feeling you would get when switching your phone cord from your modem to your actual phone and it breaking because the inside wires were loose. I miss the old days. I feel too damn spoiled.
ZX81 was my first computer, with a 16kb ram pack that you had to stick in place with blu-tac because the slightest movement caused you to lose the hours of typing code that you just did from Sinclair User mag to create a crappy Y skiing down the screen.

I am Catholic, not Protestan. What makes you think so and what's the connection? You dont seem to know what you are talking about. If you dont get my point, I am telling you technology is not alien to me but I dont sacrifice my life for it as many do. I am scared of how people live thier lifes, how they talk and way they think, what things are the most important for them, their lack of affection for others and so on and on. Walking robots, not people - that's what.
Some people started to list their first systems, so will I: I started with NES, then had C64, Amiga 600... now I own 2x PS, 2x PS2, PSP, PS3, Xbox360 and GC. And no, I am not an "alien", just standing against ubiquitous idiocy. Maybe you can grasp my message.
