Tried connecting to my partner via TeamViewer yesterday and got a not-so exciting warning message:

We suspect you're using TeamViewer for commercial purposes, please purchase a license. Your session will terminate in two minutes.

So here we go.. And yeah, they are kind of right - I use TeamViewer a lot during work, but the price tag of 30 eur/month is too hard to swallow.

Did anyone have to deal with this? Are there methods to efficiently "Reset" the TeamViewer and continue using it?

Using Google Remote Desktop instead for now, and it doesn't seem to fulfil all my requirements for work.

There is a way to do a hard uninstall, and re download. Don't remember how its done but there is a way to 'Hard' uninstall teamviewer so you can get a new license.

You can contact their support I believe, tell them it’s not for work and they’ll allow it, unless their system flags it up again.

As an alternative, you can use anydesk which I believe is a fair bit cheaper.

You have many other apps that provide the same options as TV. Like Anydesk or VNC

You have many free options available that offer pretty much the same basic features as TeamViewer...
  • Windows Remote Desktop Connection
  • Ultra VNC
  • Join.Me
  • RealVNC
  • Splashtop
  • Ammyy Adminn
  • LogMeIn Pro
  • Chrome Remote Desktop
  • Mikogo
  • WebEx
  • Final Words

Yes I had this happen once, but there's a workaround to reset. I believe this was the video that helped me out:

You can also try contacting Teamviewer, but I heard it can take weeks for them to get back to you.

Same thing was happening to me. But i switched to AnyDesk, i think i'm never going back.

Yes,temview will do that - and you need to purchase a license. Tried anydesk, but honestly i rather pay for teamview.

I use teamviewer because one relative uses it (and she refuses to use any other) but it usually marks me as "commercial nonsense", even when I am used for a single person. How is it commercial? shrug.

Right now, I am using it PORTABLE and with ALTERID (you could google for that) that "reset" it, or you could find it in board4all

Thanks everyone for the replies.
It's difficult for me to find an alternative that ticks all boxes. Sometimes we host a meeting, sometimes I connect to my friend. Sometimes a member of a team that has 0 IT knowledge needs to join the meeting and the best they can do is "click on the exe file and type in meeting id"

I'll try the ALTERID you mentioned first.

Forget teamviewer and go for anydesk. Gave up teamviewer long back because of their stupid marketing and selling tricks.

Will keep this in mind. Though TeamViewer seems to be like Skype now.
It is not about "I am too lazy to use alternative", but "those whom I need to contact use only Skype/TeamViewer"

Uninstall it, delete all browser cookies, caches, etc and reboot computer. Then open regedit (Run as Admin) from the Admin user account of the computer, click "Edit" and "Find" or Ctrl+F and type "Teamviewer" and delete all related entires and reboot computer, log in to Admin user account of the computer and install Teamviewer again. This is what always works for me.

I like TV but they messed up by going subscriptions for users. I have one v 12 lic paid for life they say. I should have bought more before they went subscriptions but just kept using my free version. I have remote workers that remotes to local desktops at office but the free version blocks them eventually. I can't use mine, only one user for my paid version. I want to pay but not the subscription prices, does any one have any old license they can sell me? The lifetime ones even if older versions?

Use anydesk, It is good too..

As everyone else already said, just uninstall TeamViewer and try the other suggested alternatives

When i first developed a need for something like this, eventually i ran into the same problem as you. So i installed Teamviewer on all of my computers and only connected to the same person from each computet, and sort of made it work.

But then i switched to anydesk and never looked back. Anydesk is better, at least for me. A fantastic program. And the ID never changes, so anydesk can stay open on computers and i can connect whenever i feel like it. Wonderful just wonderful :)
