Teamviewer Alternatives?

I'm looking for a good teamviewer alternative. Needs to be free, of course.
I have to stop using Teamviewer because of its stupid licensing and bug issues.

If it is better than teamviewer, that will be awesome.
Sharing of files, contact list, and such is optional.

so far I use teamviewer as well.

Unfortunately I have an issue with Microsoft RDP.
Like sometimes it logs in successfully but the shows the "Windows Server 2008" screen and just freezes there.
I tried CTRL+SHIFT+DEL but nothing happens... till I need to manually restart the VPS.

So yeah, I will have a look at Ammyy Admin.

Check out VNC (there are versions for windows and linux).
FreeNX (linux only i think, but check)
Remote Desktop connection (default with windows XP and later)
TightVNC
UltraVNC

There are more but I dont remember them....
 
UVNC is freeware, but frankly I think it's TOO powerful. Services want to run all the time, you need a hard password because if you forget to turn off the service your computer is vulnerable to anyone that can figure out your password is "poop1".

I assume they pay for it, but my client doesn't. The site says there's a free version. They install the client-side, and whenever the tech support wants in you launch the client and they remote in and take over the computer. You can kick them off at any time, and once kicked on they can't get back in unless you let them. UVNC is much trickier to use. I have it on my computer so I can connect to another of my computers, but the thing makes me nervous, because the client-side software and service is running 24/7.
 
Well, i think the only way you'll have a problem with a rdp connection is
1. slow internet connection on your end.If this is the case, then i suggest you reduce the display resolution from the options tab before you login to the rdp.it wont be nearly as clear but will be much faster
2your rdp has run too many processes and is now memory jammed.every process becomes slow.
I use only rdp for my vpses.when i want to view a real computer, i have used the following.
Logmein-the best in my experience, also the one i can save the details on a flash, and only have to insert flash and connect .

Dameware( very very good, but its only 14 days trial period)
 
Just setup a windows vps, it is easy and works just as well.
 
for the freezes look at my SSH suggestion, you can restart the rdp service from the command line and then login via rdp.

I would suggest VNC as the best alternative

It's opensource and very powerful too

EDIT: Nvm, just did a hell load of research and realize that UltraVNC is the best of the rest.
