I don't think the problem is with taxation itself.
The issue, at least in my country, is that we have corrupt people controlling the nation. Meaning, tax money doesn't go to the right places, rather, it goes to the wrong places. The way they tax is also decadent.
But yeah, seeing the government take 40-50% of your earnings - and knowing where this money go to, is horrible. That's why I moved away from my country around 5-6 years ago. I refuse to get my stolen, only for the money to be put into things that destroy the nation and my people.

One corp partner speaking to another:
- Hey mate, we have to pay those corp taxes to the gov.
- Alright, just make sure we pay as less as possible as allowed by law.
- Don't we have an obligation to pay a fair amount seeing as these taxes & the public infrastructure they power helps our business thrive?
- Ofc we do. But we are already paying a fair amount.

- Because the law says so. And more importantly, because the public treasury already has enough funds (gathered through taxes) to spend on infrastructure.

Now, I am NOT in charge of a Fortune 100 company, but still I can understand the corps perfectly. They are right. The government has a way of misusing funds for any reason, never being accountable for it and shifting blame anywhere else as long as it's not them (huh, reminds you of any current POTUS?). They have been doing this for more than 1000+ years now (in general across most regions). That's the WHOLE reason why business exists today and we don't put the trust in our government to produce products and services.
The budget used for public infrastructure is fixed and is always enough if there is not a lot of stealing going around. But when the pie decreases, someone has to make up for it. Just because a corp makes billions of dollars of profit, it does NOT mean it has to pay for the government's mistakes. It's like punishing an athlete for winning the marathon, LITERALLY. You are punishing a corp for being the best at what it does and forcing it to pay for your mistakes.
Would you like it if some government schmuck came to your house and told you that you have to pay for their mistakes just because you happen to be very good at whatever you do? No, you would tell him he has 30 seconds to get the fuck out of the house before you shoot him in the head.
So, in turn, corps fight back, because they have the means to do so. And the government lazy fucks, who don't have the guts to neither own up to their mistakes or force corps (the largest players) to pay for them, find another target audience to pay for their mistakes: the VERY PEOPLE they were supposed to SERVE in the first place.
So, yes, the truth is always more complex than a tweet. Personally I agree, you should pay whatever the law requires and NOT a single cent more. You are not obligated to, and in most cases, you are just paying up for someone else's mistakes. You are not really helping anyone!

The problem is that the taxes paid government bureaucracy is bloating it self up without any control.
Every year more and more government employees are hired, new job positions created, to control more and more stuff that is not really needed.
To be able to pay this horrendous and growing amounts of bills government then tend to invent new taxes for things that are already taxed on.
I'm living in one of the lowest tax countries, but also here this tendency is clearly visible.
You pay tax on goods sold (VAT), you pay then income taxes on that money you get as salary, then you need to pay wealth taxes on the money you hold.
So in fact you pay three times taxes on the same thing, crazy shit!
The federal tax that we have, was implemented more then 100 years ago, as "temporary tax" (because it was a very bad time back then),
it never went away anymore...
Can you imagine, we even pay taxes for garbage disposal. Even three times! First we pay community taxes (for the guys gathering the bags in front our doors), then we pay a mandatory tax for garbage disposal (depending on your apartment size), and then you need to buy special expensive garbage bags (they will not collect garbage in normal bags and you will get a fine if you do so)...
I agree on the fact that a government need to collect tax money, but there should be a direct control for what this money is!
And it should be clearly regulated that the government can not "grow itself" without any agreement of the people.
And double and triple taxes for the same stuff should be forbidden at all!

Anyway, I don't know which country you're from, but roads, hospitals and "education" have all existed in times where there wasn't taxation in the same way that we have today.
For example, you could start by researching the michelin star/michelin guide for more information on "who gunna build muh roads"
You guys need to understand that income tax doesn't pay for most of what you seem to think is necessary for a society.
Most hospitals actually PAY taxes, and only a very small portion of them are considered non-profit.
You guys do realize that hospitals make money, right? Particularly by taking advantage of our corrupt insurance systems. (duh)
Look at how many NON-GOVERNMENT not-for-profit hospitals there are! LOL
As for roads, those are paid for by "excise tax"... like toll roads, and taxes on the actual fuel, etc.
This varies by state, but I understand that the majority of the cost is paid for by taxes on gasoline.
Education is paid for by property tax, which is constitutionally illegal, by the way, because Citizens are supposed to have a right to own their property outright, and in modern times, they do not.
This is also a big part of what drives up recurring cost of living for both home owners, and also people living in apartments and town homes.
The total GDP for the USA, in 2020, was supposedly $20tril.
So, you guys talking about some companies skimping on $100bil in tax is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Texas and California literally pay for close to 25% of the nation's total.
(another reason Texas needs to secede and become its own nation)
So, the question is... what does income tax pay for, and how much is it of the total GDP?
The average appears to be about 25%, over a longer period of time, but this year, it what apparently about 18%.
A large percentage of that $4tril actually comes from super high earners, apparently.
So, the more successful you are, in the USA, the less your incentive becomes to be successful.
Here's an interesting breakdown:
According to that data, only half of that total number is individual income taxes.
It's interesting to see some of the other figures, like excise tax being included in the total, and that number is not very big.
It makes me wonder if state excise tax is figured into those numbers, since they are labeled federal.
I can't attach anymore images, but apparently the division of individual income taxes goes 16% to defense spending, 23% social security, and 25% medicare, then 8% safety net programs, 8% interest on debt, etc.
According to SSA.gov, if you collect social security above $25k per year, then you have to pay taxes on it. LOL! (hahaha)
So, we're paying individual tax money to social security, and then they have to pay taxes, again... wonder where that goes... LoL
It also makes me wonder how much money is being lost on unconstitutional welfare programs.
In any case, if we're looking at $2tril from individual income taxes, that's roughly 10% of the total GDP, which obviously means that 90% of the nations revenue generation is coming from other sources.
When you consider a relative comparison of the losses in revenues, from the GDP to the individual, considering income and property taxes, the loss by ratio is notably higher for the individual than for National Revenues.
Since the biggest GDP factor is supposedly CONSUMER SPENDING (70%), then why on earth would you cripple 20%+ of an individuals financial potential? (smart)
If the individual is 20% some-odd more profitable, with an incentive to build businesses or increase the total value of their circumstance, then obviously within just a few years they would have the potential to add an extra year's worth of labor, subsequently allowing the nation to leap forward an extra year, as well.
We currently have a system that keeps the little guy from getting his head above water, and the rich guy from having an incentive to grow his business further.
Then you factor in the bondage of credit card debt at 5% to 20% interest, and car payments, and mortgages, and every other guy's crappy monthly SAAS fee, and fiverr and upwork taking 20%, and you're 100% a slave. (LoL)
I didn't knock over every log, here, but you guys get the idea.
If you aren't insufferably lazy, and spend 15mins to do a few quick searches, then you can learn how these systems actually work, instead of pontificating about it, because you think our government is logical and righteous.

You can also legally not pay taxes if you don't stay in any country for more than 6 months.
Buy a yacht, live by the sea and between the ports. Or emigrate to Dubai / Georgia (where you have 0% tax rate for foreign income).
But you must be prepared to pay for private insurance, private schools, etc.
