So I just recently got accepted into CJ (finally) but I see you need to submit tax info to get payments... Idk what do... I don't work, I'm 18, In High School (other than online a little bit, but don't make much) and I don't know what I'm supposed to do :/

Every Cpa I know of if you in the USA ask for Tax info you should have SSN# google W9 and you will find the forms online
IRS is one place if your in the USA that you do not want to fool with lol

That's what I'm worried about. I don't want to get into any legal trouble so idk what to do... Don't I need a passive income for a W9?

You should probably have a SSN even if you don't work. Go get your papers, you'll need them for the rest of your life...

I have an SSN. Is that all I need? I don't need an employer id number? Where do I take the form to? How do I get it? :/ So many questions.....

Your going to have to have your information in life, so you might as well get to it, and get everything you need now.

You're self-employed, there's probably an employer code for that. You can probably fill an online form and sign it using your password. It's not rocket science really but nobody's gonna fill the forms for you, put an effort into it man!

All this US Tax Problems and IRS, give me creeps, people from other countries do things pretty easily, specially in Asia.

I know it's not rocket science but I want to approach this with EXTREME precaution... I don't want to get into any legal trouble

It also says "Name (as shown on your income tax return)" I don't have an income tax return... Do I have to fill one of those out too? And where do I bring that to? :/

You're being overzealous. Take it easy, if you're not a scammer you won't be in trouble.

You just submit your ssn, then you file tax reports every year. You could subtract some taxes by saying that you had to "host" websites and etc.

Apply for an EIN.

Never submit your SSN to another business.

Dude, relax. give them your ss #. You don't need an EIN. And just fill out the info using your name address etc. This is not brain surgery. If you applied for a job at Walmart you'd have to do the same thing.

Next you'll say that forming an LLC is a waste of time.

People submitting their SSN online to CJ or some CPA company, trusting them, and equating that with being like when finding applying for a job...wow the internet has changed.

SSN is not meant to be used as identification to be spread around. Didn't your parents and grandparents and lawyers teach you that?

Your quite ok to give cj your ssn, its not all defcon 1 to do so in this case. cj has required it for years now. All you need to worry about is filling out a w9 form they send you and your 1099 form they send you if you make over $600 in a physical year. The w9 is a standard contractors form (you in this case not directly working for cj, but as freelance contract). It allows cj to report to the irs that they paid you, and if and how much taxes you charged cj for your work. it allows them to request and use your ssn. The 1099 form is also like the w9 but lets the irs tax you correctly in your respected tax bracket, cj by law has to report what they paid you, this is so you cant lie how much you actually made and scam the government. These are standard forms.

I know in Canada, once you get your sin #(ssn in your case) you need to file taxes even if your income is 0. in your case it may differ, but your tax name is your name on your ssn card , full birth name usually . Your income will be 0 if you dint work, you dont need a passive income for cj, something you made up with wrong understanding of the process.

As for employer id, I know in Canada its a gst/hst number, but thats when your making over 30k.. You need to call the irs general inquiry line , they are friendly , and will answer this question how to get one or when you need to.
Remember, your self employed , you dont need to register a business # or llc until your making alot more, wanting to hire staff , or want to write off bigger business expenses . sole proprietor (contractor ) is just your name, no extra, and you can still file work expenses at the end of the year to get more money back , and pay less taxes. find an accountant 2 months before tax season, should cost about 150-200 for your personal, self employment and expense report to be filed . Your accountant will deal with all that, just save all your paystubs and recipts and plop them on his desk.

Your ssn is not used for id. I never said it was and CJ or any other company didn't either. My point was that it's used for paying taxes at the end of the year if you've made enough money.
yes I understand you can use an EIN for online marketing. If you're paranoid. I'm not.

I've never filled out an "Income Tax Return" Do I have to fill one of those out?

What is the amount in the US that you make in a year that requires you to pay taxes?! There's no source for this kind of information. Also, how would I go about claiming expenses like domains and hosting?! This shit is so damn confusing.
