How's the tax system in Vietnam for online earnings? I've heard you don't need to pay tax from online income or even start a business if you live there. Is this true?

Me native here. The law states that the tax rate is 10% of your online income. But what matters is how you can hide your business. 'Cuz in Vietnam the online business is not popular as in the US, therefore the law about it is not strict. If you hide well, you dont have to pay a single penny. If unlucky, you will pay (without any penalty though).

Tax isn’t in anybody’s vocabulary in Vietnam. Cash is KING in vietnam. My dads side is from here and I just recently visited this beautiful country recently for the first time. This country is beautiful yet third worldish in a way. They are roughly 50 years behind America in almost every aspect. There is no city or “federal” taxes. Heck they don’t even know what a credit line is. If there is a tax law I’m sure it’s very different than here in the USA! I would say 90% of the country uses cash and cash only. Buying food or anything from a local business is almost like buying from the swap meet as you can always negotiate, there is no set price

I love vietnam myself. They have the best coffee i have ever had... I only wish more people spoke english. Like its neighbor country Thailand. Thailand a lot more speak english.

Vietnam has better looking girls, but the language barrier sucks. If i were to live there i would definitely learn vietnameese.

As to OP's question. not sure. Proboably best to ask a tax lawyer or accountant in vietnam....
