Targetting 2 keywords on a domain

I have a basic domain question in regards to SEO and ranking top on google for a relatively low competition keyword.

Im planning on targeting 2 keywords for a site but the domain realistically can only handle 1.

However, because each keyword has 2 words, I was wondering would I yield more seo value if I use 1 word in each keyword?

For example
2 keywords: "foo bar" & "star wars" (assume they are pretty related/relevant keywords)

naturally foobar.com or starwars.com would respectively rank high on their own keywords but what about foowars.com or starbar.com ?

Is it better to keep the domain targeted to one keyword or would i be able to get some additional value but cross-targeting both keywords in the domains (well more like half each keyword)

Obviously I would need to think about content/titles/etc but because domains and link building are long-term strategies I want to get this sorted first. I also am aware any domain can target any keyword but I want to become a bigger player in the top 10 as few months as possible.

You could target as many keywords on a domain as long you could handle the SEO.

I want to keep the domain short though so there's room for branding, etc.. would there any domain-related SEO benefit to cross part of 2 keywords rather than focus the 100% domain on just 1 keyword?

Im pretty excited.. even while global/local searches is somewhat low, there's only 1 person (rank 1) actually providing exactly what the query asks for and competition ratings are obviously low / not targeting directly.. Its an adult theme keyword too so hopefully adult monies $_$ if I can conquer rank 1

target one keyword in a domain. using mix of keywords won't yield you anything.
you can always optimize that site for 2 keywords but you need to check which keyword has more potency for you and choose the one accordingly for the domain.
