Targeting Foreign SERPS

I have seen a few threads relating to this but no definative answer on the best way to attack it.

Here is my senario:

I have a site: www(dot)moneysite.co.uk

it is aimed at the UK market, however it also supplies products and services across europe so I need the site to rank high in Gaagle .de, .fr, .es etc etc.

How do I go about this?

I have seen another thread that says change the target settings in GWT, but wont that then simply target another country? I want to target multiple countries.

I have also seen advice to register country specific TLD's......so how would that work, I dont want multiple version of the same site, all on separate hosting and all with their own domain, would I need to use a 301 redirect from each TLD to the main .co.uk.....wouldn't that just defeat the object?

I want one site that does well in all the target countries, can someone explain a method for attacking this please....I know its a lot to ask but any help would be great.

There are two ways to attacking the problem but it depends on the niche & the keywords your targeting. But either way, its a bitch to do.

If its generic high concept keyword that don't kick in the local 10packs/google places & returns SERPS that arn't too GEO biased you can use geoIP/geoDNS load balancing with DNS in the actual countries your targeting & corresponding local CDN file serving with vps's or cdn service.

If its heavy GEO biased SERPS i'd go subdomains targeting each country/lanuage. With localized hosting/DNS/language translation & upload KML files to GWT for each subdomain.

wow, I understand about 10% of that.

I get the impression its not going to be easy to achieve.

It all depends on the keyword, sometimes its as easy as using a $20 DNS service & a generic CDN service & getting your page load speeds low.

Anyone have recommendations for DNS service or CDN for Europe?
