I wonder which version of the code should I use in my links on my website?

    <a href="http://xyz.com/" target="_blank">link here</a>

    or

    <a href="http://xyz.com/" target="blank">link here</a>

Which one is newer? I found out both working fine, but am not sure which one should I use.

Thank you for your reply, but I've noticed that target="blank" works as well.

"blank" is probably a valid name for a new window.

"_blank" is a command that tells it to open a new window every time

It doesn't matter which one you use. The target refers to a window ID, so if you have a popup open you can have a link open inside of that popup. Otherwise it just opens a new window with the ID, "_blank" or "blank".
