I have a friend who has a HECK ton of rapping talent. What would be the best way for him to get recognition? I mean yeah sure creating a page on all the social media related platforms and approaching groups and people is one. but any other thoughts on this?

Forget the internet, seriously, forget the internet.

Go perform, get good, get fans, they can build the internet shit for you.

Seriously, forget the internet.

A combination of a youtube channel and facebook marketing should work. Don`t go for fake views or likes because those won`t take you anywhere..

Sort of agree with this as well - i think its important to get out there in the real world, get people to hear your friend raping. The more people that know about them the better.
But also online you can run concurrently as well as offline - get on every social media profile that you can. But dont spam any of them, try to keep followings small but super high quality.
Get lots of videos uploaded to youtube, get audo on soundcloud or whatever. And tweet about these on social media. Get people involved, get peoples feedback and so on.

Maybe your friend can do periscope and facebook live as well.

Try to find some niche music sites that would be willing to interview them.

No one cares anymore if you can rhyme, its a waste of time, of his and mine, not worth a dime :D. unless you have connections with some producers so you can leverage their fame (small or big) to launch your own career. Unless he has rhymes like rakim maybe he can spit fire ..

The problem is he raps in english, and we both live in pakistan, and live performances here won't have that much of a big effect, but yes, that option is certainly in my consideration. Thanks for the reply!

Seriously, we need to see this guy in action to give our best advice.

Post a YT vid of him doing his stuff.

He has a soundcloud, and that too because i told him to make one. He recorded his rap with a phone mic and wrote his own lyrics and most of the songs are him freestyling. This is his soundcloud, try listening to the ' dollar bills '
