Taking content from ebay ( copyright question)

Hey guys,

I've wanted to clarify this:

ebay user agreement says
"you will not [...] copy, modify or distribute rights or content from the eBay sites, service or tools or eBay's copyrights and trademarks;"

One example is: I am going to take description of specs from a camera on eBay and putting it onto my website.
Has anyone ever taken content from ebay, any concerns if I were to do this?

I doubt that they will take action against you, even if they find it. At most they will probably send you an email requesting you to take down the information. If you do want to be on the safe side, you can just edit the description to avoid their copyright policy.

They will actually remove the listing at first sign that you're copying another listing and THEN will send you a message to let you know.

Just take a minute to rewrite the listing and avoid issues.

Guys pay attention the OP is going to be putting it on your personal website.
I do not see any issue at all with this and you should not be seeing any Cease & Desist letters coming around.

How will they, or anybody else on this planet ever know? Unless it's the original content's writer who just happens to miraculously stop by your site and say "hey, I wrote that". But that's not going to happen. It's like using images you found online in your blog posts. Technically copyright infringement ... yes. Does anybody care.... no, not really.

Now if I was to go a little further, lets say if I were to get specs from another 3rd party website and not ebay, for an example an actual review website such as gdgt(dot)com and grab specs to put it on my website. What are the chances of being held liable?

If you are only talking about the raw specs of a camera there shouldn't be a problem. Most sites just copy the manufacturers description and specs.
