I have a small Viral Nova/Bored Panda site which averages around 2k uniques a day. About twice a month however something goes viral and it will spike up to about 10k for a day, then 5-6k for 3 to 4 days after that.
Money jumps up accordingly so I'm happy with that, but very little translates into actual followers. Currently, I just have a follow link at the top of the sidebar and then the badge that shows a table of your followers at the bottom of the sidebar.
How can I translate this traffic into more followers without putting a big dent in the money I earn off of them, or pissing off my regular visitors?
I feel like even just 1% or even 0.5% is reasonable (so 50-100/day), but most of these days in the past I think I've still only added a few today. I have 5 so far today but I'm pretty sure that's from another thing I've been doing recently.
