Hi

I was thinking. There are a lot of advantages to offline marketing.
There are less barriers to entry because generally you need to live in the area you are targeting. So you have a captive audience where only a certain amount of people can compete. Unlike the internet where millions of people are competing to sell the same products.

In my experience the personal touch (no innuendos intended ;-) ) goes a long way to helping to sell. The fact you are on the end of a phone and can turn up to see the client etc increases conversions massively.

I am looking to get into wholesaling and I am sceptical of doing it online. I have access to some respected and verified wholesalers but it seems too simple to just buy something for $50 then turn around and list it for $100 on an online market place (you know the ones) and make bank.

I am guessing the catch is multiple people are selling the same things so why buy form you? Perhaps im wrong and it really is that easy.

But i thought if I could list items I am dropshipping in my local classifieds section and undercut all the bricks and mortar shops in my area I could be on to a winner.
Maybe exploit how google loves local area businesses in SEO

Anyone have any clever strategies or methods you think would really crank this up?

I was thinking about selling consumer electronics just because the markups are so high. Laptops, speakers and so on.

Just wondered if this sparked any ideas among you guys? If we get any interest on this thread and good methods i'll update you on how its going as I am in talks with several suppliers at the moment of numerous electronic goods and looking to get started asap.

Do you plan on meeting up with them and selling them the product in person or shipping them the product? Most people won't purchase something online via classified ads. They are used to the websites just being affiliate offers or something of that sort. And many of these websites warn the user not to purchase anything online and only meet in person.

Create a catalog. I started working from home over 25 years ago, and I started with a catalog and direct mail. In those days, we had to do everything by hand and then take it to a printer. You can do so much more now because of Photoshop, printers, and all the paper choices. Have people work for you. Tell them to show the catalog to their friends and you will give them 10% in cash of the total sales if they get any orders for you.
