Tags in wordpress

I think tags are useful for seo. I've seen many tag pages in google when doing searches. They mostly came up for low competition keywords or new phrases to the market.

i dont understand how they work. are tags not just contained on a wordpress post?

can anyone explain it to me cause i think i must be an idiot, i just dont get it
 
Tags are everywhere. They are becoming a new standard for navigation. Tags help organize information better. Google is loving them more and more.
 
Wordpress Tags also generate a tags page... kinda like a category page with all content under the tag.
 
I actually had 2 tag pages ranking better than my main domain in Google.
 
I got one site which got 900 articles but 3000 indexed pages... Rest are tags... Some are ranking and some are close to it... Tags help in navigation, better placement of ads ( i mean tags help ads server to decide which ad is best suited for any page) blah blah... LOL who doesn't want more and more index pages in search engines (not crappy pages)...

You got the idea... As MisterGemini said they are becoming a new standard...
 
More than 80% of my Visitors ( those come from google) directed to tags.
 
jeez! i best get my sh#t together and get these tags going

I use tags on all of my posts, however apart from the Ads that were previously mentioned - How do they help SEO/Rankings? I understand some of you guys get high ranked on your tag pages but in the main post is it not just extra text on the page? If you have a large post would it not then just be rendered useless?

Thats nice, thanks. Still not completely sure if it would help for the initial post, or just for the tag pages but its much clearer now :)
 
tags is mandatory you know, it helps mostly when searching over a thousand of contents. it's like filter for it,
 
Hey guys,
Which one do you think - tags with **************** or nofollow attributes? Read that link juice get leaked by making it ****************.. So I have mine as nofollow.
 
If they aren't useful then why does it included...
Its useful of course... it helps ur site to be searched through those tags.
 
TAGS are essential for helping SEO when using Wordpress.
It's like one of theose things though with the Google Patent. When they change their algorithms what worked yesterday isn't as effective today. A new method has taken over but it doesn't meant to say leave it out of the mix.
I cringe when i hear people comment that they no longer bother with Meta data. The fact is, that every little helps.
Tags show up in the SERPS.

Google has said themselves that the only meta data they even read is the description. The description meta data IS very important today. Google does look for and use that. If not, they will grab other pieces from your site to find, but you will get dinged for not having it in the first place. They don't bother reading keyword meta data at all... so they say.
 
Any good wordpress site out there that shows tags etc? That ranks well?
