Hi there,

Is it still 'socially' acceptable to be tagging larger accounts in your niche in your posts to encourage them to like your post (so their followers will see the like)?

I haven't done this before but I've noticed with a recent post a 1.5mil account randomly liked it and it's grown over 100,000 views in 2 days and I've received 500-1000 followers.

It's making me think I should be tagging them and others in all my posts.... thoughts?

Cheers.

It may or may not work? I see people use this method but whenever people tag my large accounts I usually end up blocking them for it cause it gets annoying...

So I guess it depends on the account manager if they are okay with it.

You may do this given that you have the permission from those with larger accounts. Why? Like what @Kornchips said, it's annoying. I just use hashtags and try to follow as many people as I can.

Yeah very good point. I proactively ask people to tag me in their pics because I can use them plus it builds that brand recognition but I can see how it would be annoying... that's if they even see the tag amongst their engagement feed.

Definitely have to be tactical with tags because it can feel a little invasive if it’s not something that person is interested in.

The massive accounts aren't likely to see your tags in the first place since the notification page scrolls by within a minute, lol. But even if they do see it, they're very unlikely to like because likes from accounts that big are considered power likes and are worth $$$.

Personally I think it's pretty rude and comes off as leechy. Not everyone will feel that way though.
