Taboola High CTR but High Bounce Rate – Is Landing Page Issue?

even small differences between the ad promise and the first screen of the landing page can make a noticeable difference in bounce rate

I’ve already seen a lot of useful suggestions in this thread.

I have one more suggestion: display the form, sign-up, or purchase button only after the user has finished reading the article. The button copy should align with the content's context, for example, "get the full analysis report" or "get a free assessment now."

High CTR with a high bounce rate often means there is a mismatch between the ad and the landing page. Make sure the headline and content match what the ad promises.

CTR does not guarantee quality traffic in native ads. Sometimes misleading or overly curiosity driven headlines bring clicks but weak engagement.

Hey everyone
I’m running Taboola campaigns and getting a pretty good CTR, but the problem is users are bouncing very fast after clicking.
I’m trying to understand what’s going wrong and if it’s related to the landing page or traffic quality.

What I’m seeing:
  • Good CTR from Taboola ads
  • Very high bounce rate on landing page
  • Low time on site / weak engagement
Now I’m wondering if the landing page should be different for native traffic compared to Google traffic. Maybe users from Taboola expect a different style or flow?
Has anyone dealt with this before? Would you optimize the same page or create a separate native-friendly landing page?
Any insights would be really helpful
Thanks.
In most cases, you should not use the same page for Google and Taboola. Native traffic usually needs a softer, more story driven landing page.

Maybe your target audience is inaccurate? You can also try to modify the ad content so that the sales purpose is not too strong...

Native traffic usually needs a different landing page style, try matching the ad message with the page and focus on improving the first few seconds of user experience.

I faced something similar with native ads. The page needs more engagement elements because users are not always searching with strong intent like Google traffic.

from what I’ve seen native traffic usually behaves differentlyy then google traffic and i will test a separate landing page and focus on matching the users expectations after the click.

taboola traffic is different from google because users are not searching for your offer and i think the landing page should match the ad style and grab attention quickly and also must check the traffic quality not only ctr.

i would suggest to test a separate landing page for taboola and native traffic can behave differently and so matching the page to the ad may help and also check traffic quality and page speed.

yeah the native traffic is different and just test a separate landing page and check if the ad message matches the page.

Yes i think native traffic can be different you should try a Taboola friendly landing page and check the page speed or ad match and traffic quality.

honestly before you spend days building a new lander check your publisher blocklist. taboola has tons of junk sites where people click by accident, which inflates ctr but kills engagement. if you do change the page just make sure it loads in under 2 seconds otherwise native traffic is gone... they have zero patience compared to google search.

tbh high ctr on taboola is sometimes a trap. if your headline is even slightly clickbaity people click and then bounce the second they realize it's a sales pitch.

check your device breakdown too... mobile native traffic gets a ton of accidental clicks from people scrolling on news sites. i'd look at your placements first and block the junk before redesigning everything. sometimes it's just bad placements inflating your ctr.
