I've used outbrain a while ago and it performed well (unfortunately I can't really remember any numbers, sorry)
However, I felt like it took some of the traffic away from my site and so I stopped using it.

Exactly this is what they do .

But OP, if you really want to use it then use adsense + Taboola or adsense + revcontent .

I love adsense because in some niches they pay super high, which you can really bank hard on. But it depends niche to niche, my adsense sites are always on $1+ CPC keywords. Haven't tried taboola or outbrain but I don't think they pay as much as adsense

I was getting $0.005 with Taboola.

But this was around 2015. Have things improved, because that's clearly not worth bothering with.

Outbrain is good if you have an in depth funnel created, hitting them with your hard offer doesn't work as good as adsense imo...

    You can use both.
If you do some investigation you will find out that Revcontent is much better than Taboola.
Also, you might consider Propeller ads pop under plus Adsense. Try to google that, there is one nice case study about almost doubling profit with that method.

For it to be worth it I'd be wanting around $1.50 rpm. I think Taboola was doing around 1/10 of Adsense when I tried it.

I noticed a lot of big sites like TMZ use Taboola with Adsense, does Adsene allow Taboola I rember they had a rule before that you cant have another ad network or something if you were using adsense, I wonder if they got rid of that rule?

Also when you sign up for Taboola do you have to have a certain amount of traffic to get approved?

I remember back in the day Vibrant ads those ads that were in the article as highlighted links when your mouse would over over it, they paid pretty good. I dont see any website using vibrant ads anymore, maybe it became a google penalty?

Heard of them but i think adsense is best because they owned by google so they will lead.

You definitely want AdSense on your site if possible, alongside Taboola or Revcontent. On my traffic arbitrage I normally break even with the revenue generated from native advertising, and all of the revenue I earn with AdSense is the profit - and AdSense always produces higher earnings per thousand visitors for me - and that's with ads scattered around generic viral content, not even trying to target high CPC keywords.

Hi, do you have any guesstimates with Adsense vs Taboola & RevContent?

And isn't there the possibility that Taboola & Revcontent actually takes money away from you, because rather than click an Adsense ad, a visitor is drawn towards an ad on Tab/Rev and clicks that instead?

With regards to Adsense vs Taboola, I experienced about a 10th of the CPC with Taboola than I did with Adsense, which is significant. And is RevContent on par with Taboola (bad in my experience), or better?

There must be a reason why sites use them in addition to Adsense, but at the same time, I can see people clicking those ads instead of clicking an Adsense ad, thus potentially reducing the overall earnings.

i see many big sites now like TechCrunch and CNN use now taboola or outbrain and not adsense (specially TechCrunch because make like 200.000$ montly on adsense) soo maybe or this site using both of network or i guess delete adsense because maybe are too risky and maybe because with clciks with taboola you can make more money than adsense. it's incredible how things goes on and with some years some things change (maybe now a good company be good and after some years there are another company be more big than the good company i say before)
what did you think about this? can u confirm this?

Whoops just realized I never replied, apologies for the delay.

For me AdSense makes roughly 2x what the native ad networks make overall and my earnings per click on native ads are usually much lower than AdSense, but that fluctuates fairly heavily. I'd have to go back and look to get more solid numbers.

The way I market my site, the people who visit are way more likely to click other viral content / native ads than AdSense. If I didn't have them on the site there's a good chance I wouldn't get any click on an ad, and I'll take a click that pays me anything over no click where I don't make any $, so it makes sense for me to have both - you may wish to keep your visitors on your site and try and get only AdSense clicks, it's just whatever works for your strategy.

Best way to decide is to test.

I agree the best way is to test.

What CTR do you have for Adsense? If it's poor, like 0.1% I imagine it's more likely to be worthwhile using the others. I get around 2%, which I didn't get when I tried Taboola - and that was on viral type content. The RPM was incredibly low compared to Adsense.

My lifetime CTR for that site is about 0.5%, but I try to average about 15 pageviews per visitor

What is minimum standards to get approved by adsense, btw? I never tried adsense ever, although I tried applying and got denied because my site was too early and no traffic when I applied.
