Question: I have or will have a new blog up soon. I want to add content to it from media or news feeds to populate it. How will Google see this "syndicated content" and not count it as duplicate content. Is their an arthor box I have to add at the end? And if so is there a good plugin to add to WP so it takes in news content to post? Just dont want to get hit with dup content if it comes from AP or another trusted news source.

For some reason I had thought that the determination for a site is based on initial spidering. That is when Google generally makes the decision as to how to classify your site, which somewhat makes sense but I would like to hear others ideas.

But I am sure there are blogs that tame in news stories and dont get hit with dup content so how to do it right is the key

I think that if you start from the very beginning with duplicate content, and have a high percentage of content that has been indexed already Google can see that you are just putting together (aggregating) content vs. trying to rank with other peoples content.

any other views on posting news related content that will NOT be counted towards duplicate. Want to use actual news stories to fill in the gaps of articles posting.

Take the story, add your own comment and viewpoint to it.

Not only will it not be duplicate content but it's a far better visitor experience than just publishing a press release.
