We switched from http to https about three months ago. Unfortunately Google Search Console still shows about ten times more traffic for http in comparison to the search traffic which comes from https.

My assumption is that Google still indexes most of our sites in their http version. And therefore GSC shows way more search traffic for the http properties in comparsion to the https ones.

How do you deal with it? Is there a way to tell GSC, that it should index the https versions of our sites? How long will it take to have http removed from the google search?

Hi @dan7899,

honestly I am not into the technical details. Could you elaborate more on force redirects? Is this recommended? What do I have to consider?

It takes some time you will see your https indexing time to time . It is important that you must track your website both in http:// and https:// in GSC so you can see your improvement.Example my website now I have about 900 pages indexing in http and about 300 pages indexing in https (Currently I still have some problem in technical issue so this is bad example ) I implement https in april you can see increasing in page indexing

For your question you don't have to tell anything to google just make sure you add all your website form in GSC http:// https:// https://www. http://www. and make sure that you not have problem in htaccess to redirect all your http:// to https:// After that just waiting and see your https:// page index increasing ope my post help you a little bit :D

Oh almost forget for anyone who want to implement https:// to your website you will facing alot of on-page problem that will make you very very very headache after moving to https:// if your redirect is suck dubplicate title ,dubplicate content, broken link,http:// link on https:// pages ,.............. .This is my onpage problem before and after I fixing https:// issue lol

You can avoid most of issues when moving to https. Important pages should be indexed in 1-2 weeks, the rest will remain as http for a long time.

OP sent you PM.

If all your canonical tags, redirects, internal linking, href lang, sitemap, and etc are straight and correct... they will figure it out.

If you google for "Redirect Checker" you will find tool to check if you website is set up correctly. Enter the HTTP link and see what the tool says.
