Ya think 301 is the way to go!
How many pages you got? If it's less than 500 prob easiest to do manually - get text sitemap from XML-sitemaps, then do a big of search and replace and make a htaccess file of 301 redirects from old page to new.
If it's more than 500, go look up Regular expressions - and take some paracetemol
