Sweet GMail Trick - Cell phone notification - Try it out

I was just fucking around on the laptop last nice and set up GMail to send me a text message every time I make an affiliate sale. If your affiliate is capable of sending you a notification email when you get a sale, you can do this too; here's how it works:

Go to settings and filters. Set one up so that it forwards the sale notification email every time you receive one. I did this by telling GMail to forward when the email contains my affiliates name. You can do it other ways (by email address, subject line, etc.) In the "Forward it to:" box, type in your 10 digit cell phone number, then use the corresponding suffix for your cell phone carrier:

Pretty sweet trick, keeps you from checking your affiliate stats 20 times a day. Don't forget to test it by sending an email to yourself with the corresponding filter parameters so it triggers. Only takes me 10 seconds to receive the message after get an email. Enjoy receiving text messages that are actually worth reading.

Sweet, works. Just got a message for a commission of 99.58. Greatest text message I've ever received.

I used to do this years ago... it was good then cause I was younger with probably the only MP3 phone out at the time so it'd keep going off playing songs. It got old quick though.

You aren't leaving the word"number" in the email address like the example you gave are you? It's just supposed to be your 10 digit number, sorry to ask, just going off your example.

a paypal trick would be nice so that way anytime you get a payment your phone would ring money signs$$$$$ lol

I'm not sure if you can set up Paypal to send you a Payment recieved notification email, but I'd say you can. Just set a filter to send you a message when Paypal emails you, but make sure you set to filter so it only activates when the email has "Payment Recieved" or whatever the email normally says in the email. There's probably a way to set it up so it sends "$$$$", I'll try figuring that one out tomorrow.

I have a blackberry and I text more often than I actually talk vocally. So I get a notification everytime my paypal gets a payment just via the email.

I'm in the UK, & have 3 mobiles on Orange network and cannot get any messages to come through.
Would there be any fee for receiving txts which were generated this way?

(BTW to be clear I am attempting to email {my phone's no. - 10/11 digits}@orange.net I keep getting this:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

0101010101 @ orange.net

Technical details of permanent failure:

I don't know about you but I'm not charged for incoming text messages, only outgoing. As far as your problem goes, I'd try contacting your provider and asking them about it, they could have changed their address. It's worked flawless for US Cellular. Seems the people that are having problems are from the UK.
