Is it just me or has the web really cracked down hard on Blackhat tactics/methods this year? Seems like the easy days of spamming Facebook, bots, ranking in Google with just back links and shit is now over. Honestly seems the only ones making good money are the ad networks and the gurus who have everything locked down already. Its getting very hard to break into anything white hat let alone blackhat anymore. Just my 2 cent anyway. This doesn't mean I will give up trying and neither should you!;)

Opinions Please...

give it some time, i am sure someone here will figure this out...

2012 made me get a real job again, but I'll be back.

Please tell me its not for a major corporation? The last thing they need is more hourly paid slaves to work for them and stuff their pockets. Seriously a 9-5 hourly day job is a waste of the precious time a human being has on this planet. I know everyone won't wake up to that reality though.

It's time to take a step back and reanalyze your strategy. Just because you can't rank a site by blasting spam to it that doesn't mean opportunities are over.

exactly. spamming is simply not going to cut it anymore, it's time to do legitimate business. i for one am pretty much done spamming for nonsense CPA offers etc. because that will get you NOWHERE in the long run. provide quality and the income will soon follow.

White is the new black... Automation is everything these days, and don't put all your eggs in one basket.
At this moment freeloaders will not saturate every method.
Only the people that won't give up will succeed from now on. Stick to it, you'll get the rewards later.

Ha! the fact you have to work at SEO/IM now is a great thing - gets rid of the lazy retards who want to press a button and get rich - more opportunities now, not less :)
Exactly my point. I agree! :D

Old school marketing never fails. You had to know all of those short term strategies would not last forever.

I've only joined this world in the past few months, I work full time and put another 30 hours a week into researching and learning everything I can, so far I've made $0, actually made a big loss, buying domains, hosting, tools, courses, methods, weeding out the crap information from the good information.

What I have learnt is there is no Easy Money, if it seems to good to be true then it is, people selling you get rich quick schemes are probably broke.

We are in a new ERA where Good Content, Domain Age, Social Media, and lot's of Hard Work are the only way to survive, markets/niches are saturated, single keywords are near impossible, long tail keywords are insane hard to rank for.

Two Groups of Survivers I see:
1) Those who play the "LONG GAME", those who have been in the industry years, full White Hats will millions of man hours behind them already dominating markets and niches.
2) Those who have a keen eye for Trends, future predictions, the next big thing.*

*The trouble with the second point is it's going to be very hit and miss. Example Microsoft XBOX 360 is huge they sold millions of hardware, software, then online gaming, more hardware, and never ending games. BILLIONS of Dollars out there, everyone had a slice...

Soon they will bring out a new Xbox, it could be in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, the Name of the new Xbox has been rumored to be xbox 720, xbox infinity, xbox 8... check out those domains, keywords, people have brought them all up, already fighting for keywords like Xbox 720 Games, or Xbox Infinity Online... Some of these could end up being HUGE money spinners whilst others fall to the ground after having wasted both precious time and money... Do you feel Risky?

Personally I'm not giving up though, I'm finding myself studying trends more now though, looking at stats more and seeing what the next big thing could be with hopes of getting in a niche before it goes viral and fully saturated... I'm going to keep swinging my bat in the dark and hope I connect with at least one home run!

Is it really that bad this year?
I just got into a scene a few years back.
Didn't notice a difference.
I wish I was in the scene in 1990s lol

I think this whole Penguin thing may have been hidden in the Mayan calendar! Just kidding

Crap year so far, but it could be much worse. I'm still 6 feet above ground for the moment and poised for one helluva comeback!

No, it's not a major corporation. Believe me I'm on the same page, I hate the 9-5 grind and shit wages they pay it hurts my soul to work a regular job. I work part-time with a local company and then part-time I do their marketing. The service part sucks and I deal with annoying corporate stiffs that get butt-hurt at the stupidest shit and they act all high and mighty. I just dealt with a top 3 person of eBay, worked a Google event and worked with twitter execs. I was hoping I wouldn't see Cutts cause my fist might have had a twitch :spankme:.... As much as I hate the corporate grind or working with them, I'm a big boy now. I woke up to that reality as you say but I don't live with Mommy and Daddy anymore and have to pay the bills. Gotta do what I gotta do and get back into the game when I can. I learned my mistakes and what blew me out I just had no idea it would be all at one time, sucks real ass but I can either cry about it or take one on the chin and get back to the grind. I did learn my lesson about using G as the main source though, fuck that. I had a big diversity lesson that's for sure.
