Hello BHW

Today i want to discuss if the Typing Speed is directly related to productivity of someone.

Although a lot can be automated, most of us probably get confronted everyday with a lot of typing work.

Now i am curious how fast the member of BHW are when it comes to typing speed.

Everyone can test his performance on 10fastfingers(.)com

On my best days i reach 780 Keystrokes with 1 False Word, curious if i ever will get over 800.

Thanks in advance for all your post guys, will be definitely interesting.

It's just not relevant. 137 is very good though if you think about it. I think BTB types 3x faster than me, considering his production but he only makes 100x what I do lol so that shows you how relevant the metric is ;)

sure, it always depends on the person how productive that individual is but if someone types 20wpm or 120wpm it would definitely increase his efficiency wouldnt it (somehow self answering question).

More interesting to discuss the topic instead that everyone just posts his results, so i tried to make a discussion topic out of it.

I guess my cheat works better since I scored a 187 and neither of us are on the leader board ;) Nice try though..

My Screenshot is a few months old and i dont have an account there so i wont show up in the leaderboard, i could provide a short screencapture of my test if requested though.

I suck, 77 WPM. I can do a little better though, but not much. Anyone can recommend a guide for correct pressing of keys (which fingers get which keys)? I'm using all fingers to type, but mostly my index fingers.

Most IMers would be fast typers i think. And yeah it may Increase your productivity if you are not a fan of outsourcing or Automation.

It's hard to say. Cause there is a huge difference between being a fast typists and being a great writer. I have met many fast typists who are awful writers. So you need an equal balance of both. You must be able to write engaging, high quality, information packed content. Content with depth, dimension, foresight and wit.

I'd equate it to driving a car. Most people can get in a car and drive 140mph but if you don't know how to hit those turns, when to use the brakes, etc... you're gonna fly right off the road thus lowering if not destroying your productivity.

I view typing speed in a similar vein. Important indeed, but nowhere near as important as writing literacy and experience.

Anyway, this was my score on 1st try, 3am in the morning, tired as hell and on top of that I have a terribly optimized writing environment. I have a non-adjustable chair so if I dropped my keyboard low and did this in the morning, it should be around 120. On a good day I'm pretty sure I could get it higher. But all in all there are much more important things to consider other than speed.

Yes, I guess the faster you type the more things you'll get done. If you're a typist, it makes sense to know how fast you can type in order to determine how many works you can finish in a given hour. For writers, it's great to type fast too especially when beating a deadline but it's even better if you can think of great ideas faster to supplement your fast fingers.

My mind is what limits my working speed. I simply do not know what to type. I could be typing 400 WPM and still not get the job done faster.

I feel somewhat ashamed by this lol

In fairness i didn't realize the lines of words moved up once you reached end of the top line so for a short while i was typing the wrong words

Still terrible lol.

This would be a whole lot better if i was typing my thoughts instead
