Everything except these:
15-20 in-content links are good to go for most websites, so it's the case for header & footer menus,
Probably anything more than 50 up to 100 links are way too much, still depends in the website type and authority tho
- The influence of linking is more noticeable on large sites than on small ones
- The more internal links per page the better

Yes I think, Link text diversity shows a good correlation with high page traffic.

Internal link with good and quire relevant context works just fine. Just don't do internal links just because you have to. That's it.

Priority goes to user experience, if the page requires a lot of internal links (example: top 100 reviews) then use them.
It's all about user engagement.
I have no scientific evidence to back this up, but looking at my niches top competition, they are ignoring a lot of on-page seo and they still dominate.
