I have no clue what to do lol, it says i'm freemium but it also tells me to add my site(s) and then i have to pay some dollars :(

Probably because your website passed the "early stages", only free for new websites

Last time I checked it was extremely expansive for little functionality it provided.

Its free for ultra small websites - if you collect less than 100 impressions a day.
Anything more than that you'd have to subscribe.
