last night vd had two 110amp 208v breakers blow that ran their ac units, when the dc hit 120 degrees the core router shutdown, they are putting in redundant breakers on the ac units to stop this from happening again, ever tried talking to them about your problems? they will fix basically anything if you tell them whats going on
Server room at 120 degrees, that's nothing - try 140. Something similar happened at a place I used to work at as a sys admin. Power spike at 4 in the morning takes out the cooling units. At 9 am when one of the admins did their morning check they found the thermometers all maxed at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). When I got there about an hour later they were still at 60. Don't think the fix will prevent the same thing from happening, as in my case the following Monday the same thing happened again, but that time only one unit went offline.

Anyway, I've seen a number of questions that have been asked by newbies - that so far haven't been answered so I thought I'd answer them to save other from having to ask or answer.
Difference between Xen and OpenVS/Virtuozzo:
In it's simplest form - without going into to much technical detail:
With Xen you get more access to the hardware, but that comes at a slight performance hit, which you're unlikely to notice in 99% of the cases.
There are two types of Xen vps you can purchase:
PV (Paravirtualization): requires ported/modified operating systems - so no Windows (unless you work for Micro$oft).
HVM (Hardware-assisted virtualization): can run unmodified OS's, which means you can run more or less any operating system. Hosts offering Xen HVM usually charge a bit more for HVM hosting, than regular PV hosting, as it uses a bit more resources - to fool the OS into thinking it's on its own separate hardware.

With OpenVS/Virtuozzo (OpenVZ being the open source version of Virtuozzo).
The operating systems are also ported/modified. There isn't much direct access to the hardware and cretin things can not be done out of the box like setting up VPN. Without having drivers enabled.
Its container-based virtualization, which cut's down on duplication and allows for more sharing of the resources. Because of this, it's very easy to find that your on over sold hardware. But that's not to say hosts using Xen can't oversell - its just not as easy as OpenVS/Virtuozzo.
OpenVS/Virtuozzo VPS's tend to be cheaper than Xen one's as more can be placed on each physical machine.

Control panels: lots of free ones about, but sooner or later you'll have to start using the command line. Especially when it comes to securing the VPS and making sure it stays that way.

The 64 bit question:
64bit is better, plain and simple, better on caching files on disk as well as better with big number crunching (crypto etc)
For a physical server, the above answer is valid.
For a vps with limited resources, it can be better to go with a 32bit operating systems. As 64bit systems use slightly more memory than 32bit ones - when running the same things.
