probably pretty stupid question but could not come up with any good search string which could have given some answers :)

so if you are linking from some profile pages (ie. some from paul's backlinks or such) does it give any noticable advance to make the username to keyword ie. my kw would be apples then i make username apples

thnx

yes, it would give as the anchor text would be the keyword you are trying to rank for.
Goodluck.

i think you misunderstood now ;) hmm maybe my example was bad, i mean is examplesite.com/user/keyword much better than examplesite.com/user/randomstring/

would be good to get some accounts ready and when you get the sites done just happily adding the links

since im not trying to rank with the the user pages but my main domain.

I don't see how it could hurt, related keyword in url = slight seo boost, and a backlink from a seo'd page is better than one from a non-seo'd page.

It won't make a huge difference by any means, but hey, every little bit counts right?

I agree with Grizzy. I think the keyword in URL will help a bit, but not a huge difference. It would definitely be better than a random string.

I suggest use keywords which are very related to your site.I don't see any problem on using the same word for your username and keyword but the keywords itself should be similar to your page description.

It's not a problem as long as you have catchy and head turner keywords.People click the words which sounds informative to read and where they can probably relate to.
