Super noob question

I am a graphic designer always want to move into Video Editing. May I ask is Video editing is a great niche? Thanks for answering my noob newbie question.

It's like graphic design, I'd suggest. It'll depend on how good you are, how great the quality of the work is and what you charge for the service. This will determine if it's a great niche.

Offer up crap and you'll struggle. Offer up overpriced crap and you'll struggle more.

I've seen it with design work in the past. Someone quotes me $100 for a logo and the samples they send are very basic. Then out of the blue a guy/girl sends me a portfolio, quotes me $15 and I'm blown away with what I get.

There are no stupid questions friend, especially when it comes to ones like this that rely on people's experience instead of raw information.

If you ask me video editing is an EXCELLENT niche. Everyone and their grandma are opening up youtube channels, making video ads.. etc. I'd say it's a growing market.
I think you can find work as a video editor quite easily, the market is less saturated than when it comes to gfx design. But make sure to be good. With some other online professions, you can fuck around and make mistakes. With video editing mistakes really stick out and they can be received quite nasty.

Video editing has another weird trick where it's much harder to outsource than graphic design. In an age of outsourcing and competitive pricing, I think video editing can still float for some time as a decent option to get what you're worth easily.

Will keep that in mind sir will do more practice and research so I can be expert with it. Honestly, I am terribly confused right if I will pursue web design or this (Video Editing).

Oh... Thank you very much will keep it in mind now I know what will I pursue.

Video is all the rage right now. Cisco reports that by 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all internet traffic (source). Hubspot reports that 78% of people watch online videos every week and 55% view online videos every day (source). Video editing isn't really easy to do professionally, either. Most people can draw a simple drawing in PhotoShop but will be completely lost if handed all but the easiest video software. So the demand is absolutely MASSIVE and not everyone can do it so the supply is lower than average overall. Also, we're at a time now when video software is getting easier, but there is still a major difference between actual professional video software and tools you can use to generate videos online. That means if you start now, like right now, you can get enough business to go from novice to professional BEFORE everyone else starts thinking they are a pro for using a website to point and click a video out. If there was ever a time to learn it the 'right way', that time is def. now in my opinion.
