Super competitive keyword: Designer Handbags

Hello! I'm new to this forum. Not new to SEO, but I do always work in tandem with someone else for my websites SEO. I've worked with various freelance SEO for 'designer handbags' keyword on and off for about 3 years. It's almost one of the most competitive keywords you could have.

I'm almost ready to give up on this keyword. The best I ever climbed on google was page 6. Now I don't think it's even ranking. It was steady on page 10 for nearly a year. I've written well over 200 articles for this keyword. It's depressing.

Does anyone have experience with nearly impossible keywords like this? Thank you for any input.

If you've written 200 articles targeting that keyword and if 3 years of SEO didn't bring you further than page 6 you did something wrong with the freelancers you've choosen.

That's what I've suspected. All of them have been from freelancer.com. I did start work a month ago with a new guy. He's helped me with my other keyword which is designer iPhone cases. I'm wondering if anyone actually knows how to crack a hard one like designer handbags.
