There are legitimate people begging for money, and there are blackhat beggars. You can know the difference, by offering food and water.
One will take the offer, one will not. This second type of person pisses me off. Because they hit people with a guilt trip just by being there, and the idiots are like "aww I would hate that to happen to me, here's $$ poor guy."
I was commuting to a place in downtown Houston, for nearly 2 years. The offramp had the same duo, one on each side, same sign, same design. "Broke after paying bills, need help, god bless."
Clean shaven, white socks, FUCKING WHITE SOCKS, CLEAN WHITE MOTHERFUCKING CLEAN WHITE SOCKS, and a dog on a leash.
When it rains, they have a rainjacket and an umbrella. Otherwise same set up.
And they fucking rake in the dough. I once had to sit through the green light 3 times, because so many people were stopping traffic to help the poor guy out.
Every day, I fantasized about being in the shadows, and run up and punch everyone in the face that donates to these professionals.
