Super article Vs Many articles?

Hi, all.

I have seen a post like this already this morning, I wanted to gather a few more opinions.

On my new site, a grey area niche.

I have seen one site in the top rankings. His articles combine multiple topics into one long article.

For example, If his article was on apples he combined;

Granny Smith apples
Golden delicious apples
Pink lady apples

Covered each base and made it between 3k and 4k words long.

Now, on my site, I am writing my articles as an individual, however, each of my articles is around 2200 words each.

If I combined them like him, my articles would be 6k words each, but I would have fewer pages.

What do you do when it comes to articles and super articles?

I feel a 6k word article on three topics related to each other could work, it would certainly rank like fuck.

Is it optimal for SEO, though?

Calculate the average word count of the first page results(excluding the ones without content like Amazon) and write ~300 words more than the first page average.

One site is the site with the super articles which is between 3k and 4k the rest are sub 1k articles.
 
You could have the super long pillar article and then link to shorter articles which contain more depth on each individual apple.
 
I would not add an 6k article to my website (too long for my taste), but what i would do:
Article: 7 Most tasty apples in 2020

Interlink articles to the one above:

>Granny Smith apples
>Golden delicious apples
>Pink lady apples

Having each "apple" article over 2k is too much in my opinion, your article should be compact and straightfoward an 1000 words article would be ok.
On the interlinked articles you can have as many as you want, lets say you chose 20 apple varities, thats 20 articles with 1k words each, 20k words.
This is how i would do it, this way i cover the whole niche, it might be my choice but i 100% HATE long a$$ articles.
 
It depends on your niche and how much your audience likes to read. Although in general most people hate long articles since the average user is a mobile user and reading 2k+ words on your phone isn't really going to happen for the vast majority. It's better to get your point across in a clear, concise and persuasive way rather than going on and on. Longer isn't always better if 99% of people don't make it to the end.

It also depends on your source of traffic. For instance are you targeting people searching for apples in general? Or are you targeting people looking for a specific type of apple? You could have both types of articles and just rewrite them.
 
categorise each subject with a link and 2k article on each .
 
I saw one guy had this website and it looked like 1 damn long article but when you scrolled down, the slug would change but you would be on the same page reading same article....

How many pages does your site have? It’s always better to have less, content-packed pages. If you make too many subtopics, your link juice would spread thin.

This is a fresh site I am working on. I have one super article on the homepage which is 10600 words.

The other articles are individual articles sat between 2 - 3k words per piece. These could be combined together so instead of having 40 articles at 2 - 3k I can have twenty articles at 5k.

If I were you, I’d first see which articles are already ranking or receive a decent amount of traffic, leave the them alone and combine the rest accordingly.

Sorry, I should've mentioned. The articles are not live yet. I am curently writing them at the moment. The super article is live and only three other articles which have the same topic but can be combined to one 7k word article.



Imagine it like;

Paracetamol
-history
-how to use
-side effects

Panadol
-history
-how to use
-side effects

Another brand name for the same product
-history
-how to use
-side effects

Instead of three separate articles. In the sections about side effects, there may be similar content.

Yes, it's been a while lol, I'll be more active here, will see you around xD.
 
I have 2 x 6000 word articles on one of my websites and they are the least read articles. I done them as an experiment. My 3000 word articles do really well. Reasearch suggests that the sweet spot is 1600 words.
