They buy up all the tickets to events/concerts as soon as they go on sale then resell them at inflated prices.
Or they buy unwanted tickets cheap (secondary market) then resell them at inflated prices.
Some people are making a fortune from it.
They are the online versions of the old "Ticket Tout" or "Ticket Scalper"
Correction, we provide a premium service to those who do not have time to sit in front of a computer early mornings in effort to buy quality seats. Most people work during initial on sales, and therefore, are unable to purchase tickets. We provide a service for people willing to pay a premium cost. We don't stand outside of venues scalping.

Also, if we bought up all of the good tickets, the secondary market would not be profitable. Venues and promoters reserve 70-80% of the best seats and label them "Platinum Tickets," a fancy word for we scalp our wholesale inventory and call it Platinum tickets. So ticket brokers get a bad name due to this misconception.
