As a teen I used to go to that summer camp on the outskirts of the city by the beach that was literally in the forest. While I do appreciate nature now I used to hate that place. It was 20 days in July or August and I went there for like 5 or 6 years in a row. It was an excuse for our parents to "get rid of us" so they can have some date time. Now that place was literally huge, maybe like half a mile by half a mile and there must have been like another 1000 kids in there.
I hated the military structure of it in the sense that everything had its time, you had to wake up and eat breakfast at that time, lunch then, then obligatory rest for couple hours in the afternoon etc. Total nightmare for a hyperactive teen as myself. I suffered in that place every summer, was like a jail to me.
Good thing is we were going for swimming almost every day, yes again at specific times, and had athletic events like basketball and table tennis. I still remember a basket I scored with a Michael Jordan like jumpshot on the semifinals against the other team in front of a crowd of about 500. And in table tennis I became pretty good practicing every summer yet psychologically overall still I would not repeat that experience in a million years!
