Suicide Threads

Request that all suicide threads are immediately deleted, AFAIK nobody on BHW is professionally qualified to offer advice.

Request that members who create such threads receive a temp ban with advice to seek help from a professional.

Having such threads encourages others to post similar threads, the advice given may also be harmful.

This is an IM/SEO forum and I don't want to read that shit on BHW even in The Lounge.

I agree 100%. Wish I could help but I can't, there's nothing you can do remotely, advice may be bad and folks need professional and family support. Can't happen here or on online wherever.

I have family members with issues with depression and need professional help. No amount of bullshit from friends and family has ever helped. They need professional help.

I back this idea as anyone with these kinds of thoughts really should be talking to somebody that can help them rather than a bunch of (hopefully) well meaning forum members.

I have removed a couple of them lately. While I'm completely sympathetic to anyone going through these things people will not get the help and support they need from BHW.

I agree, some of the people on this forum are the last people you should be having any form of communication with if you're feeling suicidal. Deleting the thread and directing them elsewhere is the best course of action.

Interesting idea, a form of split testing to see if the temp ban works;

If they do return - they were just attention seeking.

If they don't return.......


On a serious note, if people get so stressed about their gf/bf dumping them, then God help them when they get into serious situations in life in later years.
