Suggestion: Username Restrictions

Moments ago, I saw someone registered with a username "madarchod", that gave me a feeling to start a new thread.
I have not been on the admin side of Vbulletin, but is there any way that certain words can be filtered out while registering?
If yes, then I dont think we need such useless usernames in a forum of such a repute and standard.
The guy abused someone in his 2nd post and is banned now(thanks to mods,i guess it was BigBuddy who banned him).
That clearly shows the mentality of such people.

Thats really fucked up... Someone should IP ban that a-hole...

Even if its possible to put restrictions on usernames, there are literally thousands of ways to express what one wants to say... like putting a '0' in place of 'o' and it'd pass.

Interesting idea, some plugin could check for banned words before registration, but on other hand such person will always try register, if someone wants to make damage, is very motivated so will always find proper way to do it.

People will just switch it up, 0 for o 8 for "ate" 4 for a, etc.

It'd be a pain to make the wordlist for all those possibilities plus this is a worldwide forum where slangs differ a lot depending on where you are.

there's no way we can stop spam but we can definitely try to reduce this shit...atleast such words...i have been around for almost 2 yrs and I love this place like anything, I have learnt and earned a lot from BHW but when I saw his username an his post, it literally hurt me.

agreed but most of the users have English as their 1st language or they are from India,Pak where languages are similar...there are lots of great minds here,we need suggestions.

I guess a vb plugin which can filter out these abusive words can be installed. Such words de-mean the over all worthy-ness of this wonderful place.

yes, I have banned him not only for his username , but abusing the Itrader system by giving fake itrader to fellow member and multiple accounts.

We already have filter to restrict some of the words for usernames, but these words are in other languages (hindi) , so could not restrict it.
