A few days ago, I shared a keyword ranking sheet with someone who had posted a thread asking for keyword rankings. Today, I came across another thread where someone else was asked to rank keywords. When I shared my previously ranked keyword list with them in a personal chat, they mentioned that someone else had already shared the same sheet with them.

It seems like someone is taking my keyword rankings and passing them off as their own. What can we do to prevent such things to happen?

If it's google sheet then share it as restricted view and make sure it has been approved by you for them to view and also use read only pdfs
 
Share your file in "view only" mode and apply a watermark to protect it.

report him and mods will take a look at his PMs,
whenever he's replying back or not, they could find out the other guy (if any) and take actions

The guy is not replying to me with whom that guy shared the file. Even I tried many time to ask him the name but seems like are happy to be get fooled.

he don't need to reply you back with whom is sharing the file/link,
if he's claiming that, it's enough for mods to take a look at his PMs with other people and find out who's the person doing so,
after all, he (or anyone else) can't delete the PMs, and the person involved not only he's using your work, but could be some scammer,

head off to the guy PM, report the message he's claiming that and explain everything in the report,
shouldn't take long for the mods to do the work and hopefuly it will be resolved ASAP, before any damages are done

Atleast he should reply and shared the name, so that others guy will be aware of it. I will then publicly tell all the forum to stay away from such people.

I've already report the thread, hopefuly mods will take care of it soon enough ^^
 
U can use version control,keep different versions of the document with timestamps or unique identifiers. This helps you show that you were the original creator if someone else tries to claim credit.
 
prevent others from claiming your work, use watermark your keyword ranking sheets with your name or brand, and consider sharing documents in a read-only format
 
One thing you could do is watermark your sheets or reports with your brand or name.
