I know that the title is a bit weird (no to say dumb), but hear me out.

When someone starts a dispute resolution thread, they have to indicate whether you're looking for the product or for a refund:
  • What you need from the accused to consider this resolved. Examples include a refund or a replacement.
So far so good, but throughout the dispute (which some times takes months to resolve), many accusers are starting to act as if their original goal no longer interests them and all they care about is the accused being banned.

I assume that managing and trying to resolve a dispute between two parties is hard, not to mention two parties that are pissed off at each other and often not speaking English fluently.
So, to see comments like this is really infuriating because it's so disrespectful toward the entire staff that invest so much time and effort in getting a refund or a working product/service.
I don't even care about a refund at this point, it will be 100x more worth just to see you banned.

Why would you exhaust so much resources if you don't even care about the refund? Getting someone banned is not a business goal, and as much as it eventually helps the community, this is no way to resolve a dispute. Obviously, I get that anger is a part of it, but showing respect to someone that tries to help you is really basic.

After this lengthy intro, my suggestion is simple: I want to add a sentence to the approval post of the dispute to say that the goal of this thread is to resolve a dispute and that as soon as the focus is shifted to revenge, it loses its purpose and be closed.

Information For The Accused & The Dispute Starter

Please remain professional as name calling, insults, griping, tu quoque, and ad hominem will not be tolerated
. Should the dispute starter resort to this, the dispute will be forfeit; and if the accused resorts to this, the dispute will automatically be in the dispute starter's favour.
As soon as the focus of this thread shifts from trying to resolve the dispute to wanting to see the other party gets banned, the dispute would end at the favor of the other party.

The moderator mediating this dispute is simply trying to fair a resolution to this dispute. Any mod abuse or accusations (e.g., "you're biased", "you're protecting scammers", etc) directed toward the moderator will not be tolerated and may result in an infraction for mod abuse.

You're right, that is an issue in the dispute resolution section. I've added a similar line to that cookie cutter we use when we set those threads live. Thanks for making the suggestion.
