I see many old threads get bumped recently, and in many cases, newbies find an old thread by searching or directly from Google, and they just don't think about (or even check) the date before they post a comment (which makes sense).
So I thought that similarly to the message found on sales threads, I think that displaying a message like this can really help reduce that amount and encourage new members to engage in their own threads:
