[Suggestion] Banning Reason

There's a first time for everything as the saying goes.

People who are banned as Jr VIPs are done so for something more serious than spamming about bone oak forskolin, as an example.

If you see a member is banned and you choose to ignore this fact, then go onto buy a service, then more fool you, especially if the person scams you.
Do you know what happened to Hacko?

If you run a forum or large website and want to withdraw privileges to a member you can just ban them, which is within your rights as per T&C.

If you decide to publicly call the banned member a scammer/deadbeat/criminal/untrustworthy etc etc you are opening yourself up to legal contest.

Obviously if the website is owned and operated from somewhere in the world where its hard to be reached well and good, but BHW is hosted and run in the UK by a Ltd company with an easily searchable director(s).

Basically its a lot easier to just say banned and leave it at that.

Cheers for the explanation.

I thought it was odd, as he, like you said, is a well-known and respected member. I myself was banned for 2 days for the weirdest reason.

Some dude wrote about how great India is, so I posted statistics on homelessness, rape, murder and so on in India. One moderator and admin then started attacking me calling me a bigot, racist, sexist and that whole melody. I was banned for 2 days. I wrote an email asking why this type of fascism is allowed, I received no answer - but I received 1 day longer ban.

I was very surprised about this. I always had the impression that the forum is run by good and mature people. At first I thought they banned me because I am an unknown poster and therefor they can ban me based on emotions without anyone caring (I didn't break any rules). Interesting to see that I was wrong and that Hacko, who is a well-known member, being harassed in this way, too.

*EDIT*

Oh yeah, one guy questioned why I was banned. He got banned too. Since then I realized it's better to be silent and just take in knowledge from those who share. Or only write about stuff related to IM. Otherwise you risk of getting kicked out because someone "felt like it" or disagreed with you.
Are you sure you were banned because of simple stats?

Erm, no, definitely not the case. Since you're keen on discussing your temp ban publicly on the forum, I'll just post a link to the thread that involves you being banned along with my posting why this happened.

He was banned several days after that thread, so I don't know why you would assume it was related to that thread...

To the main point being brought up, we don't discuss the reason why members become permanently banned. If it was for something that happened publicly on the forum (like with @Zbigniew) then you can search their username and find the thread in question. This goes especially for members that were banned for scamming because usually it will have been documented in the Shitlist section.

So, to summarise, we can't tell you why a member was banned if it wasn't due to a public dispute on the forum.

Question answered. Thread closed.

Just to follow up on some points raised in this thread: none of the reasons discussed for bans here are actually correct

However, we know ex-members will often make up a good story to justify why their ban was unfair - and that’s their prerogative to do so - but we’re not going to tolerate gossiping and falsehoods being spread on the forum, so I’ll clean this thread up now.
