I suggest having one sticky thread for Google update discussions. There are a lot of threads about this subject, and some of them just end up being a Google bashing-thread for some people to beg for attention and likes. Kinda useless after 70 pages.

I think it would be more constructive if we had one sticky thread about Google updates.

Perhaps something like this:

Google Updates January - February 2020

Once we go into March, you'll archive the above thread and sticky a new one called "Google Updates March - April 2020".

This way the thread will not be archived too quickly, it will probably be easier to moderate and it will be up-to-date. Plus it's easier to discuss and navigate when it's all in one official thread.

I'm missing a good Google update thread on here to be honest.

There is only one flaw... there is not a google update every month...

could be useful, with sticky thread, the members are no longer confused about finding the latest updates

The other ones that bartosimpsonion tend to start (think its often him / her / x) who start them tend to follow that trend but then as there is no update the following month they tend to get extended and run on or run its course..

Problem is you would need a mod to specifically mod it to make sure it doesn't go off topic BUT then what would class as that within that thread?

Just having a dedicated one would go into similar problems as the current ones have now sadly.

There are Google updates every day dude...

That's true. But it of course doesn't have to be a large discussion every month. Some weeks or months there are more updates than usual and more shaken up rankings.

I rather have a thread that is sometimes silent and then get more traffic when something actually happens or something valuable can be shared.

And the discussion doesn't have to be strictly about the January update, but recent updates in general. It's just a way of organizing the threads and conversation. Instead of just having one big Google update thread that is hard to navigate as it will be extremely long.

Dunno I think you would find it difficult to have an open fact finding conversation (I assume thats the aim) without it getting the normal

- I been hit to :(

posts. Not saying to take it off forum but something where you have a bit more control with open minded people / similar people on a chat group or something might be better for you in sharing info then reporting back there with your own 'update' thread.

Ahh your referring to minor updates, no one can see they have happened, they are minor. I don't think it would be possible for anyone to be commenting on those, as no one can actually work out what they are due to their insignificance.

Maybe I'm sounding too strict in the way I'm writing.

Even if it's called "Google Updates January - February", you can still discuss the medic update.

The aim would be to organize it a little bit better, keeping it fresh (archive the older threads) and perhaps it's easier for the moderators.

People can rarely see what the big updates are doing recently either.

I think you should read this thread again, I think you have missed the point.

Although I like the idea of having a forum for Google updates, there are many issues with other suggestions.

As BHW is a SEO forum, we can have a broader category like SEO Updates which covers all updates related to SEO like Search engine algo updates, Moz DA/PA updates, announcements/possibility of new search engines etc. This can have minor categories if required. But, it will end up being a replacement to whitehat SEO. So, I don't think if it's necessary.

As far as Google algo updates are concerned, the members care about the chaos it creates rather than sharing general info. So, if multiple users create threads about what happened to their site after update, then we tend to read all those threads out of curiosity. If there is a single thread like Google updates Jan-Feb 2020, then we will have a glance at it and think, "I read about that in SEO Journal, so no need to open the thread." This will actually reduce the activity in the forum instead of helping it in anyway.

If you miss a good Google algo update thread on BHW, then you might be ignoring a lot of good things on the forum ;)
