Hostgator or host-stage, host-stage is the cheaper out of the two.

I second that. I was a happy customer for 4 years for 30+ sites, but lately Hostgator SUCKS.

I have ongoing downtime (5 times last week between 8 and 20 minutes) for weeks and they could care less. I have submitted several friendly tickets, have to wait 24 hours for response, and all I get then is 'we are sorry'. They don't help me but they were very quick in the past months to shut down my sites for running simple WP scripts like backups or stats.

I'm leaving them and cannot recommend their service anymore.

Dreamhost is awesome I've used them for 3 years never had a problem they have an API, lots of apps, and lots of flexibility on top of that you can easy migrate your account into a VPS.

Another place I use very often is http://www.turnkeyinternet.net/ they are pretty good too never had a single issue.

I work with Godaddy for my shared hosting, is it advised to move to Hostgator now ?

stay away from major companies if you don't wanna pay twice as much as they are worth. go to web hosting forums where small hosting businesses promoted.
