Anyone else seeing a drop in suggested views in April?

Mine dropped significantly — revenue is practically cut in half. I've seen a few people on Reddit mentioning similar issues...

Have you checked if the CTR has remained the same or decreased? I've noticed that YouTube tests different metrics and sometimes promotes videos for various reasons. This month, my videos with the best CTRs are performing better, even though retention is low. It's crazy.

If your views from suggested videos are based on a single video, it is normal for there to be a drop, or if you have experienced a sharp drop, you may have been shadowbanned.

Yes, you're not alone — many creators have reported a sharp drop in YouTube suggested views around April 2025, and there are a few likely reasons behind it: Algorithm Tweaks YouTube regularly updates its recommendation algorithm. In April 2025, there’s speculation of a shift toward prioritizing longer engagement and higher retention content. This may reduce exposure for certain niches or short-format videos.

CTR or AVD Drop Even small dips in your Click-Through Rate (CTR) or Average View Duration (AVD) can cause a major visibility loss in “Suggested.” YouTube deprioritizes videos that don’t hold attention compared to others in the same niche.

Thanks for replying guys. It's a music channel, I run it for more than 10 years. Have over 300 long form videos, many of those have been constantly bringing suggested views, retention on them is good, but now views keep dropping...

YouTube promotes content *that keeps users on the platform*—whether by watching your video all the way through, or clicking through to other content. If your video is a “gateway” to more engagement (even outside your own content), it can still perform well despite low retention.
