I was working on a website, and it was going pretty well. A lot of the keywords started ranking on the first page. But yesterday something strange happened, the page that I was working on suddenly disappeared from the index. When I check site:mysite.com/page/ it's not there.

Naturally I checked Google webmaster tools to see if I had any messages regarding this, but there were no messages at all. I'm very confused as to why this has happened and I'm even more confused because my serp tracker still finds it on page 5+ for the keywords I was aiming to rank for. I have also checked this manually to verify it in an incognito window with a proxy and it is indeed still there.

Has anyone else have this happen to them before, and if so, what did you do to remedy the situation?

EDIT: Never mind, I just got a message in my Google webmaster tools that a penalty was applied to my website.
