Such A Thing As Overdoing SEO?

Whats your guys ideas about overdoing SEO? Do you think it is possible to do too much and reap consequences because of it?

I have started an aggressive campaign with a site I am working on. Very aggressive. All aspect, articles, press releases, social bookmarks, linkwheels, article distribution networks, directory submissions. You name it, Im doing it.
My logic is that if it is possible to overdo it, we would just do that to our competition and lower their SERPs.

My conclusion: there is no such thing as overdoing SEO. The Google Sandbox is a myth.

when u overdue seo u will get:
your adsense acount banned
your website out of the serps

remember slow and steady wins the race !

My advice is to VARY your SEO methods. Get do-follow and no-follow backlinks. Mix it up and change it up so that your SEO looks natural - not spammy.

I would have agreed with you a while back, but just recently a guy I help with SEO has had some very strange things happen to his site. He is PR 5 with about 116,000 backlinks, lots of age too.

He began a new link building campaign and did about 50 links a day for about 3 months, at first he saw great results for many of his keywords, but about a month ago he witnessed a massive drop in many of his keywords, a drop anywhere between 50 and 100 places. Its so strange because as far as we can tell nothing has changed on his site.

He has recovered somewhat but still not close to his orginal rankings. This is the first time I've seen anything like this. Maybe there is such a thing as overlinking?

Then again I've done aggressive SEO before and only benefited.

thats what I was doing for a while. I basically said "******** it" and just started a hardcore spree of backlinking. then my site was suddenly put on page 10, so i stopped my hardcore campaign and went back to normal and now my site is back up on top lol wtfff is going on

Have the same experiences too! I have 4 sites and I'm doing the same methods for all of them and one of them didn't rank but some of them ranked number 1. very very weird. =(
