Does having a crossposting account set as a moderator affect the chance of a subreddit being banned? or does the ban come from having an account consistently crossposting from the same subreddit?

Cross-posting won't get you banned...as its either allowed on other subs or not, you can't cross-posts where they don't want you to. Make sure your sub has back-up moderators, though...as when you lose the only moderator of the sub due to a ban, then the whole sub is lost, you won't have a way to control it anymore.

So the only way a subreddit gets taken down for spam is if the moderators get taken down for spam?

Make sure to have a clean account as the main moderator, you will use that account only to post on your subreddit. Make another account as moderator and use that one for crossposting. This way if your account gets banned for crossposting, you subreddit will still be up.

Crossposting shouldn't give you a ban on reddit unless you are spamming too hard.

Thank you that answers my question
