So i've been checking my results on rank tracker and today I look around a little more and saw that my subpages were ranking higher than my main page. How do I fix this problem?

I don't see anything wrong with inner pages ranking ? Google sees it as more relevant than your homepage thus ranking it higher. Monetize the page and cash in ?

You didnt build any backlinks on your homepage right? Go get some.

Thats the thing, I only build backlinks to my home site. Maybe I need to rethink my strategy

your probably ranking with the home page on a keyword that needs more backlinks. in other words the kwd(s) might be competitive and need more work.

in the meantime, it's only natural to have the other pages rank on google for low competition keywords (this is assuming you are NOT trying to rank your home page for same kwd(s) your pages are curently ranking on g; cause this will be weired indeed)

There will be some keywords where you home page is ranked higher, but the majority of your traffic from search engines will be from your subpages. This is very normal. Search like 10 keywords and analyze the top 10 listings, you should see that many of the ranked pages are subpages.

As others have said, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, I've had a few cases where I created a page for a specific purpose, and then a different page ranked for that keyword term.

When I looked into why this happened, I discovered that within the domain I had links pointing to those unintended pages that used the keyword in the anchor text. Apparently this confused Google. So I changed the anchor text in those links, making sure that the keywords where no where in them. Within a week or so those unintended pages stopped ranking, and then the intended page ranked instead.

I don't know if this is relevant to your situation, but perhaps it will be helpful to someone.

Could the wordpress theme have an influence on that? Like some show more of the post than others, and some show the full post. ( I have a few sites going, some are normal and some have the subpages ranked higher) Anybody know about this?

sure..it is possible. this would probably mean that some pages are having a better onpage seo
