Subpage redirected to the index page - penalization?

Ok, not a very blackhat question but still. Whats your take on this, what will big G think:

- Whenever a user visits a "subpage" on my site they are redirected to the index page. This would happen just if the referrer was an SE, and of course not if the user went from the index to a subpage. I believe I have seen many ecommerce sites etc doing this. So would google penalize me for this?
 
Metatag, javascript, 302s... All redirect methods I have heard of are generally considered to be negative on-page seo factors by the big G. Weather they sandbox your site because of it is dependant on your luck as well as how much you abuse them.
