submitting unique articles

I'm trying to figure out how article submitting works. Google can tell if your content is unique or not. So you have a unique article not on the web and you submit it to an article directory then post that same article on your site. Google will index the directory first and then your site so google will see your article as a duplicate rather than unique content. To avoid this you post the article on your site, spin for uniqueness, then try to get it approved in article directories.

Is this how it works?

Well what you said so far is true. But you would need alot of articles to make a dent.
I work strictly with ezinearticles and they demand quality unique articles but at this stage
of my IM career i dont have time to waste on any other directory.

I got used to ezine now, and i am getting sales from their traffic. By the way im
submitting 1 to 2 unique articles per day on the same niche. I will outsource that work
soon when the money is steady.

good luck

Google as such does not have a problem with duplicate content. Here is a post that I share with my customers: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/09/demystifying-duplicate-content-penalty.html

If the purpose of the articles is to fetch you quality backlinks, then I would submit the articles on Ezine first and wait till they all get approved and indexed. Once all the articles are indexed, I can use the exact same set of articles on my site without having to worry about duplicates.

Now there is no denying that using unique content beats the above mentioned strategy in effectiveness. If you are running short on money and time for the purpose of acquiring unique content, then you could simply outsource the work to a vendor and have them post one set of articles on Ezine and wait till they are all indexed and have them posted on other popular article sites, such as: Go Articles, Article Dashboard and the likes.

Hope this helps.

My goal is to provide unique content for my site. It's brand new with no content at all so it needs something to get started. What I mainly want is for google to recognize my site as having unique content.

Now from what I understand ezine will not take your articles if they are posted elsewhere on the internet. Or will they still approve them if the articles are only on your website where the backlinks in the article point to?

They will approve it as long as that same article has not already been posted on ezinearticles before.

They have software that can detect duplicate content on their site, so it will tell you
immediately if it is too similar to another submission that is on their site already.

It is always adviced to have a different article on your website, and not the same as
the one you submit.

Ezine will approve those articles as long as long as the due credits are given to the original author of the article. It is best to post the same set of articles on Ezine without changing any element of the article.

As such, article directories do not require 'First Publishing Rights'.

You're both saying to do the opposite. After what you guys told me in this thread, I don't see the point in spinning the article for directory submission.

You need not. Like I mentioned earlier, you can post the articles on your site first and then submit them to Ezine. Ezine now has a WP plug-in which does the auto submission. Why would they make a plug-in if they didn't take duplicates?

Let me know if you have any other questions.
