Hi, just a quick question:

If I had a website with unlimited subdomains and I created 10000 subdomains each with just an index page with a link back to my original site, then ensured that they was all submitted to google.

Would this increase my backlinks, and as such, my google rating?

I read an ebook from DP few months ago and he stated this trick and it worked for him, I personally never tested..
 
Each subdomain is treated as a seperate domain on *G*. I dont know about the other SE's but I have seen this work in the past. I dont think *G* has it in to change how this works as bigger sites such as blogger sites use the subdomain system with good rankings for each.
Something I will be trying out myself in the future.
 
they are beginning to clamp down on backlinks from the same ip and even from the same c-class. those links now seem to count for something, but definitely less. leads me to think they may begin penalizing for it eventually. worth a try with something new though, for sure. be interested in exact results if someone is starting this from scratch.
 
how about from a different site completely? That would surely be better.
That would lead open to other options in the future ;)
 
If it were only as easy as that :)

G does treat sub domains a little differently to pages on the bare domain but they are still recognised as part of the main domain, after all www is just a sub domain. So backlinks from the same domain, or sub-domain, on the same IP will probably not help your rankings. You may get some short term boost until G recognises they are essentially index spam, but then .... :eek:

Sub-domains may allow you to get more pages index and stay in the index longer (or may not).

However if your 10000 sub-domains get indexed quickly it raises a big red flag on the domain. If you get 10000 backlinks quicky it raises another red flag.

It's fairly easy to get 10000 pages index within a few weeks, but if you don't have other good incoming links the domain may fall foul of an index spam test and may be banned. (been there, done that, got the T-shirt)

This is a great post, I totally agree.

If you want 10000 links form a single page to be greatly effective, have them come from different class c ips.

But it would help, if it's not time consuming, it's going to do some good.

But then, make sure that they are all relevant links, from same or similar topic sites. And they are not just doorway style pages, all with the same layout and text.

In this case, you might have a well planned and designed network that revolves around the same topic, that would help even if from the same IP.

And not all up and indexed at the same time, 10000 are far too many in just one go. You need a more natural pattern, and definitely fewer per day.

relevancy+various IPs? ideal...

this will not increase your google rank anymore,two months ago google made some changes they algo
