Let's say you've got a money site that is doing quite well, nothing spectacular but you've managed to rank some moderate difficulty kws well and urls to first page - if you were then to create a second site, would you:
A - create another site from scratch if you find a good domain
B - create a subdomain from existing site

Depends on how related they are.

You will get very little benefit from the root if you create a sub-domain by the way. Sub domain is treated almost as a separate site.

Most likely A.

If it's not related, it's better to go with A. And sub domain receives only less power from the root domain.

It depends. However subdomains do get a little bit of authority from the root domain and are less likely to get penalized. Use this in your advantage ;)

unless they are extremely related, go with a new site.

If the first site does not have a well-known brand name, I would choose A. For Google, there is no difference, a new domain or a subdomain (of course, if the new one is not a domain with good history and backlinks)

Without hesitation I would make a new domain. On the other hand, I would like to take a well-placed backlink from the old site to the new one (If the two sites are complementary). This means that it would take a second hosting because this would be perceived by Google as a PBN and therefore probably penalized.

I would go with option A - " create another site from scratch if you find a good domain "

Go for new website to keep both sites safe from each other.

Of course go with Option A.

You can use your old website to promote your new website if they are somehow relevant to one another.
